Residual Income for Insurance Agents

  This Golden Nugget is sort of a follow-up of yesterday’s Golden Nugget on Mentoring – but today, I wanna talk about Residual Income… and what I mean by “residual income”, is money that keeps being paid to a person after they’ve completed the initial job. Residual Income is what makes rock stars and movie stars so rich. They keep gettin’ paid – sometimes for years – for songs they recorded or movies in which they preformed. Mentoring in the insurance industry is beneficial because once you start mentoring someone, several things happen.
  • First – as you answer questions, you begin to have a better understanding of what you do and why you do it.
  • Second – your self-esteem grows as you get another opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • And Third – you start making money even when you’re not out there personally selling insurance.

Full Transcript: Hi, this is Don Howe, and This Golden Nugget is sorta a follow-up of yesterday’s Golden Nugget on Mentoring – but today, I wanna talk about Residual Income … and what I mean by “residual income”, is money that keeps being paid to a person after they’ve completed the initial job.   This is what makes rock stars and movie stars so rich. They keep gettin’ paid – sometimes for years – for songs they recorded or movies in which they preformed.   Residual Income is also one of the benefits to selling insurance. Agents at Howe Insurance Services gets paid a commission as soon as a policy is issued, they get additional commission the 10th, 11th, and 12th months that the policy’s in force, and after that, they’re paid a small renewal for up to 10 years.   But that’s only the beginning. Once a new agent – and I’m talkin’ about someone who never sold insurance before coming to work with us – once a new agent is consistently meeting HIS production standards, they can start mentoring others.   This can easily be accomplished in less than 6 months, and we – the Office Team at HIS – and we do the work of finding someone for ‘em to mentor.   We use Monster Ads, Email, Direct Mail and Telemarketers to find Winners who we wanna work with.   We give our Agents QUALITY people to Mentor. We don’t believe in tryin’ to turn ducks into eagles. When it comes to animal analogies, if part of the job requirement is to climb a tree, we try to hire a squirrel and not a horse.   And once you start mentoring someone, several things happen. First – as you answer questions, you begin to have a better understanding of what you do and why you do it. Second – your self-esteem grows as you get another opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
