Overcoming Obstacles

I’m gonna start out by sharing a poem by an unknown author and it goes like this: For every hill I had to climb, For every stone that bruised my feet, For all the blood and sweat and grime, For blinding storms and burning heat, My heart sings but a grateful song— These were the things that made me strong. For all the heartaches and the tears, For all the anguish and the pain, For gloomy days and fruitless years And for the hopes that lived in vain; I do give thanks, for now I know, These were the things that helped me grow. Yes, obstacles help us to grow. They help us to become strong. An oak tree that has to send roots deep to get water can withstand a greater storm than one with shallow roots. In my opinion, the true measure of success is not determined by the position you’ve reached in life. It’s determined by taking into account the obstacles you had to overcome in order to reach your desired goal. I love to talk about winners and losers, and the real winners are the ones who overcome their circumstances, who overcome obstacles. Losers whine about the cards they were dealt, the great defeat they suffered, and their terrible circumstances. Listen carefully, because what I’m about to share with you can change your life! There are many people who’ve faced greater obstacles than you, who’ve had more disadvantages than you, and yet, they became more successful and more fulfilled than you. What are you waiting on?! As Jim Rohn used to say, “Somebody’s gonna become successful, why not you?” Obstacles are real, but I’m gonna guess that you’re the type of person who overcomes the big obstacles in your life, because this is what winners do, and you are a winner, and given enough time, you WILL win! Yes, you ARE a winner!
