Generosity

David’s father told him to take some food to his brothers, and his father said, “As long as you’re gonna take food to your brothers, take something to their captain as well.

David’s father knew that a man’s gift makes room for him. And years later, David had a son named Solomon, who wrote in the book of Proverbs, that a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

So with this in mind, are you the type of person who is generous, the type of person who gives to others?

I’m not talking about giving for the sake of manipulation. I’m talking about giving to people, because it’s part of your character. I truly believe that the more you give, the more you get. I believe in the ancient saying, “Give and it shall be given to you.” I believe that we all reap according to that which we sow.

A famous Bible verse says that God so loved the world that He gave. And I think this characterizes who God is, and I believe that, as I give from a pure heart, I get to experience the joy and the character of God.

I think that David was this type of person, because David is referred to as “a man after God’s own heart.” With a compliment like that, I think it’s worth finding out all that we can about David, so we can follow his example, and one thing we know about David was that he took food to his brothers and to their captain as well.

Yes, being generous and giving gifts to others is not only good for the people you meet, but it’s good for you!

George Adams said, “I have never met an unhappy giver.

I like that, and I don’t think it’s the size of the gift that counts. I think it’s the heart attitude of the person who’s doing the giving. What you become by being generous is so much more valuable than whatever it is that you give away.

Furthermore, I think that a key to being content is not found in having an abundance of things, but it’s found in a willingness to share the things that you do have.

As a matter of fact, I believe that if you’ve been blessed with material things, it’s so that you can share and be a blessing to others. In other words, if you’ve been blessed, it’s so that you can bless others.

Of course, I’m gonna guess that you’re generous, because this is one of the characteristics of a winner, and you are a winner, and given enough time, you WILL win! Yes, you ARE a winner!

Hi, this is Don Howe, and the topic for this Golden Nugget is “Being Generous”, and once again, I’m gonna talk about David and Goliath.

You see, David’s father told him to take some food to his brothers, and his father said, “As long as you’re gonna take food to your brothers, take something to their captain as well.”

David’s father knew that a man’s gift makes room for him. And years later, David had a son named Solomon, who wrote in the book of Proverbs, that a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.
