Are you Believing a Lie? – Positive Mindset

Day after day for 40 days, morning and evening, Goliath taunted the Israelites saying, “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul.”

I have to assume that his taunting began to wear down even those who normally had a positive mental attitude.

Pay close attention to what I’m about to say next, because this information can change your life.

Here it is: Negative input doesn’t have to be true in order to be effective.

That’s it!

And the opposite is also true: Positive input doesn’t have to be true in order to be effective.

But for now, let me focus on the fact that negative input doesn’t have to be true in order to be effective.

Day after day, Goliath lied to the Israelites and they began to believe what he was saying.

How do we know that Goliath was lying?

He said to the Israelite army, “Choose a man for yourselves and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will become your servants and serve you. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall become our servants and serve us.”

This was not true! Goliath was a liar! We know this, because when David finally killed Goliath, the Philistines didn’t become slaves to the Israelites. They ran away.

This is important and I don’t want you to miss it!

When you’re facing a giant, when you’ve got a really big problem, you tend to lose sight of reality and, as a result, you might end up believing things that just aren’t true.

I’m trying to warn you that if you allow negative influences into your life on a consistent basis, then eventually, you’ll begin to believe what they say, even if it’s an outright lie!

One of the jobs of a good leader is to define reality, to make sure that everyone understands what is and what is not true.

The Israelites needed a good leader. They needed someone to step up and contradict what Goliath was saying. The Israelites had allowed their minds to be filled with negativity.

Don’t allow your mind to be filled with negativity! Be careful how much TV, how much radio, how much newspaper you allow into your life.

Of course, you know these things already, because winners limit how much negative input they allow into their lives, and you are a winner, and given enough time, you WILL win! Yes, you ARE a winner!

Hi, this is Don Howe, and the topic for this Golden Nugget is “Having a Positive Mindset”, and this is part 2 of 4.

And in this story of David and Goliath, day after day for 40 days, morning and evening, Goliath taunted the Israelites saying, “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul.”

I have to assume that his taunting began to wear down even those who normally had a positive mental attitude.
